Description

Dexametasona VT is the combination of Dexamethasone 21-phosphate and Dexamethasone base, indicated to provide a high dose of corticoesteroid of immediate and prolonged effect.

Composition

Dexamethasone base	520 mg
Double distilled water q.s.	100 ml

Indicaciones

Inflammatory processes like arthritis, tendinitis, myositis, hydrarthrosis, neuritis, polineuritis, paresis due to nerve compression, rheumatic disorders, amongst others. Primary and secondary ketosis. Inflammation of respiratory tract, local and general allergies and anaphylaxis of varied etiologies, traumatic and surgical shock, stress. Labor induction. Udder edemas (associated with diuretics) and edemas in general.

For cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, cats and dogs.

Route of administration

Intramuscular, subcutaneous, intraarticular injection, local infiltration (at the discretion of the animal health professional).

Animal	Dosage
Horses and cattle	2.5 to 5 ml/day, during 2 days. Infiltration at the discretion of the animal health professional.
Pigs	1 to 1.5 ml per 100 kg live weight.
Cats and dogs	0.25 ml per 100 kg live weight.

Precautions and contraindications

Do not use, except for therapeutic emergency, on animals with chronic nephritis and hypercorticalism (Cushing's Syndrome).
The existence of diseases like congestive heart failure, diabetes, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer, intestinal ulcer, are a relative contraindication.
Do not use on viral diseases during viremic state. In infectious diseases, use only together with specific antibiotics. Do not use in cases of active tuberculosis.
Treatment should not exceed 5 days. In case of needing a maintenance treatment, after achieving therapeutic effect, it shall be done with low doses. In prolonged treatments, suprarenals shall be activated with ACTH, or stop medication sporadically.
