Description

Broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the group of cephalosporins, with bactericidal action over a frequent group of Gram positive and negative germs.
The absence of perceptible residues in milk indicates the safe use for the treatment of several infections in cows during lactation.

Composition

Cephalexin	180 mg.
Oily excipient q.s.	1 ml.

Indications

For the treatment of a wide range of general cephalexin-sensitive infections: Staphylococcus sp.*, Streptococcus sp., Corynebacterium sp., Pasteurella sp., Escherichia coli, Proteus sp., Micrococcus sp, Moraxella sp., Actinobacillus lignieresii, Actinomyces bovis, Haemophilus sp., Erisipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Clostridium sp., Salmonella sp., Fusobacterium sp., Protostreptococcus sp. and Peptococcus sp.

* Includes penicillin-resistant strains.

Route of administration

Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Dosage

Animal	Suggested dosage
Cattle	7 mg/kg live weight=1 ml/25 kg
Cats and dogs	10 mg/kg live weight=0.3 ml/5 kg.
One daily dose, no more than five days.

Precautions and contraindications

• Shake well before use.
• Do not expose the product to temperatures above 25ºC.
• Protect from direct sunlight.
• Individuals with history of beta-lactam hypersensitivity should be careful when handling this product.

Use restrictions

• Do not slaughter animals for human consumption until four days have elapsed since last treatment.
• No restrictions for consumption or industrialization of cow milk.
